I am just waiting for the news release that says "If you buy nightfall you will get 4 character slots, If you merge nightfall with another account you will get no extra slots but are free to purchase as many slots as you want at the BARGAIN price of $9.99 each!"
Hope that isn't the way it turns out but i got this gut feeling that we aren't gonna get any slots at all with nightfall if we merge accounts.

I doubt that we will get any slots for this weekend but we can hope! I also think we may get an extra slot for this weekend that will be locked after the event and the purchasable slots will be available after the preview weekend is over.

here's a smart thing. do what i do. open a checking account under your main account, make it so it will decline if there isn't any money in the account, explain to the bank you're using that account only for online purchases.

then, anytime you need to buy something online. transfer the necessary funds and purchase.

quit being paranoid. do you really think a company like ANet is going to try to screw you out of some money? i'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say they 'might' what do you do then? you contest it with your bank.

back on topic, I noticed the arrows today after downloading some 300 files durring the update process, and I am looking forward to Supporting the company that makes this great game by purchasing the OPTIONAL additional character slots.

I severely doubt there will be any additional character slots when Nightfall is merged with former chapters. Think about it.

Without a merge, you have 6 slots that can access 2/3 of the game. You have 6*2/3=4 points of fun, or 1 point of fun per 25$.
If you choose to merge, you will have 6 slots that access all of the game, netting you 6 points of fun! You still pay 25$ per fun. Now just buy another additional character slot for 10$. You have 7 points of fun for about 23$ per point of fun - and the good news keep on coming! If you buy 15 additional character slots, you get 21 points of fun and only pay about 14$ per point! The more character slots you buy the cheaper your fun becomes.

Good god, that's a great deal!

Also, same fuzzy maths as Factions. Pay for 4, use 2 - since only your core classes will get new stuff anyway. As I predicted, you've basically paid for a full extra game's worth of slots, only to be offered the ability to buy some back. I really hope Nightfall comes somewhere near Prophecies quality. All this carrot and stick stuff is starting to put more people off the series.
